Our wine appelations
Northern Côtes du Rhône
Hermitage is an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, a certification granted to certain French wines) covering 130 hectares and is located on the only hill overlooking the town of Tain l’Hermitage, on the left bank of the Rhône river, in the Drôme region.
Our vineyard lies across four different places: Les Murets, Les Dionnières, La Beaume and Les Pierrelles. The vineyards are south-facing. Syrah is grown on the areas of stony brown sand. Marsanne is grown on the areas of loam and red clay.
Crozes-Hermitage is an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, a certification granted to certain French wines) that covers 1,200 hectares stretching across the 11 villages that form the “canton” of Tain l’Hermitage. Our vineyard is located mostly in the north of the area, in the municipalities of Larnage, Crozes-Hermitage, Gervans and Erôme where the great majority of the plots are on hill slopes. Syrah is grown on plots of the clayey chalk and granite. Marsanne and Roussanne grapes are grown on plots of loam and kaolin clay.
Saint Joseph is an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, a certification granted to certain French wines) covering 900 hectares on the right bank of the Rhône, in the Ardèche region, and which extends over 60 km in length. Our vineyard is mainly located on the slopes overlooking the Rhône, in the municipality of Saint Jean de Muzols, in “l’Echirol”, a south-facing hillside, on land composed of granitic sand where we grow Syrah.
On the wine estate, the vineyards are mainly located on hillsides, which makes it difficult to use machinery, especially for the harvest which is still done by hand.
